ABOUT I LIVE AGAIN (ILA) UGANDA

I LIVE AGAIN (ILA) Uganda is an indigenous, non-profit organization established in 2008, with a mission to give hope to survivors of war through holistic restoration and encourage those we serve to live a life of purpose. We provide Trauma Counselling, Faith-Based Support, Resettlement, Rescue, and Community Care Programs.

Our vision is to see a world where everyone has healing, hope, and identity.

Central to our core values are Christ, family, equity, accountability, and restoration.

Role Summary

The Research, Documentation & Communications Officer plays a vital role in capturing the heartbeat of the organization’s work, ensuring that learning from the field is not lost, that stories are told with dignity, and that insights are transformed into tools that shape better programs and stronger advocacy.

In the research domain, the Officer supports data organization, transcription, and preparation of learning materials in collaboration with program and policy teams. In documentation, they systematize the experiences of staff, communities, and partners into clear, timely, and ethically curated knowledge products. In the communications sphere, they contribute to accessible materials—newsletters, briefs, and presentations—that elevate community voices, program learning, and strategic priorities. This position sits at the crossroads of three key streams:

• In the research space, the Officer helps organize data, support assessments, and gather voices from community engagements or focus group discussions.

• In the documentation space, they ensure reflections, lessons, and experiences—whether from a refugee healing circle, a church-based trauma dialogue, or a staff debrief—are recorded clearly and ethically for future use.

• In the communications space, they help prepare materials that amplify program impact, convey credibility to donors, and equip teams with knowledge they can act on.

The role is both creative and analytical: one day, drafting a simple but powerful story of transformation from a trauma survivor; the next, summarizing an internal workshop into digestible slides or formatting data charts for a field report. In all cases, the Officer’s task is to
make meaning accessible, make learning visible, and make voices heard.

Working closely with Mental Health program officers, policy, and communications leads, this person becomes a thread between departments, ensuring that the lessons from today inform the decisions of tomorrow.
